Habitat for Aviation works with EAA Chapter 613 on the Youth Aviation Committee at Franklin County State Airport. These meetings are for volunteers and mentors to coordinate programming, review student progress, and plan how to support youth in their flight training through resources and funding.
100 Women Who Care Franklin County Pitch
On November 6, 2026, Habitat for Aviation will be giving a 5 minute pitch to 100 Women Who Care Franklin County for the chance to receive $10,000 towards our WOMEN BUILD PLANES Program.
Established in 2018, 100 Women Who Care Franklin County is a group of local women dedicated to making a difference in Franklin County, Vermont. Through collective quarterly donations, members provide financial support to local nonprofits, demonstrating how small individual contributions can make a meaningful impact on the health and growth of their community.

Habitat for Aviation will be at BFA Fairfax for a Job Fair and Career Day! Habitat will be there to introduce students to opportunities in aviation maintenance and share how hands-on learning can open doors to exciting careers.
9th grade members of Habitat for Aviation’s Women Build Planes team, who also attend BFA Fairfax, will represent Habitat at the event. They will share their firsthand experiences learning aviation maintenance skills outside of the traditional classroom and talk about the power of building, problem-solving, and gaining real-world experience through Habitat’s program.
This event is an opportunity for students to explore different career pathways, meet professionals, and discover how the skills they develop today can connect to their future.

On November 18th, the Williston STEM Club and EIV Technical Services will be visiting the Habitat for Aviation hangar in celebration of the launch of Williston’s newest STEM club. Visitors will receive a tour of the space and participate in a keychain making activity that teaches metal drilling, measuring, and riveting.

Technology Discovery Day
Join Habitat for Aviation at Technology Discovery Day on December 3 at Collins Perley Sports Complex. This hands-on STEM event will welcome approximately 200 students as they rotate through 15 interactive technology and science discovery stations in small groups. Running from 8:15 to 11:30 a.m., the event gives students the opportunity to explore a variety of technical fields through engaging, hands-on activities. Be sure to visit the Habitat for Aviation station to discover careers in aviation maintenance, avionics, and other skilled trades that keep the aviation industry flying.

A Milestone in Aviation History: A Talk with UVM Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
Join Beth White, founder of Habitat for Aviation, along with members of the WOMEN BUILD PLANES team, for an inspiring conversation about aviation, mentorship, and opportunity. Learn how this multigenerational, all-female team is building a RANS S-21 aircraft while gaining hands-on skills, confidence, and community. Beth and team members, known as the Modern Rosies, will share stories of learning, resilience, and how one pink airplane is helping reshape who feels welcome in aviation.

Hey kids—want to fly in a real airplane? Now’s your chance!
Join us for Young Eagles Day on October 10th from 10 AM – 3 PM at Franklin County State Airport. Youth ages 8–17 can take a free discovery flight with a licensed pilot. This event is hosted by EAA Chapter 613 with support from Habitat for Aviation and Fly Vermont.

Join the Vermont Aviators Association for the 2026 Green Mountain Poker Run—a fun-filled aviation adventure across Vermont!
🛫 Start your day at KRUT with a light breakfast, coffee, and a chance to meet up with fellow pilots before heading out on the Poker Run.
At 10:00 AM, participants will receive their first playing card and take off for a scenic flight across Vermont, collecting a card at each stop along the way:
1 ✈️ Rutland–Southern Vermont Regional Airport (KRUT) – Enjoy a light breakfast and receive your first card
2 ✈️ Edward F. Knapp State Airport (KMPV) – Montpelier – Pick up your second card
3 ✈️ Caledonia County Airport (KCDA) – Collect your third card
4 ✈️ Northeast Kingdom International Airport (KEFK) – Pick up your fourth card
5 ✈️ Morrisville–Stowe State Airport (KMVL) – Finish the run and collect your fifth and final card

WOMEN CAN DO - Vermont Works for Women
Women Can Do is an annual, one-day trades and STEM career exploration conference for high school girls.
Every year, hundreds of students attend Women Can Do to meet local employers, learn to use a variety of tools and equipment, and expand their sense of what’s possible in education and career pathways.
From the Action Expo to the Resource Hall, every part of Women Can Do is about supporting girls in stepping outside their comfort zones, taking positive risks, and feeling confident in making decisions about their futures.
Habitat for Aviation will be participating in Women Can Do and will table the event. The Women Build Planes team will have a beading activity that will involve soldering, safety wiring, and heat shrink.

Habitat for Aviation works with EAA Chapter 613 on the Youth Aviation Committee at Franklin County State Airport. These meetings are for volunteers and mentors to coordinate programming, review student progress, and plan how to support youth in their flight training through resources and funding.

Power of Innovation Summit
On October 6, Habitat for Aviation founder Beth White will travel to Philadelphia to attend the Power of Innovation Summit and find out whether Habitat for Aviation will be awarded the 2026 Yass Prize, a $1 million award recognizing innovative education organizations across the country. Habitat is one of 26 education innovators selected as a 2026 Yass Prize contender after a rigorous national selection process.
The Yass Prize, often described as the “Pulitzer of Education Innovation,” celebrates organizations that are reimagining education through its four guiding principles: Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding, and Permissionless. Throughout the past several months, Beth and the Habitat team have participated in the Yass Prize Accelerator, connected with education leaders and innovators from across the country, and prepared a three-minute pitch sharing Habitat’s vision and the impact of its hands-on aviation apprenticeship model.
Now, the journey comes down to one exciting moment. At the Power of Innovation Summit, Beth will join fellow contenders and education innovators from across the country as the 2026 Yass Prize winner is announced live. Whatever the outcome, being part of this national community has given Habitat an opportunity to share its mission, learn from other innovators, and bring new ideas and connections back to Vermont.

Workforce in Motion Summit ‘26
Join Habitat for Aviation at the Workforce in Motion Summit '26 on Tuesday, September 29 at the Champlain Valley Exposition. This event connects students, educators, employers, and the public to explore careers in the skilled trades through hands-on activities, career exhibits, and industry demonstrations. Habitat for Aviation will be tabling the event to introduce students to the many rewarding careers available in aviation beyond the cockpit, including aircraft maintenance, avionics, manufacturing, and emerging aviation technologies. Stop by our table to learn about apprenticeship opportunities, hands-on training, and how the next generation can build a career in aviation.
