Fly-in & BBQ with WAI & Habitat for Aviation

Habitat for Aviation had the honor of hosting the Women in Aviation Vermont Chapter for our fall potluck gathering. It was one of those perfect October evenings you wish you could bottle up—bluebird sky—not a cloud to be found—and that rare, decadent kind of weather that lets you linger outside in short sleeves a little longer than you should.

Friends flew in, including Beth and Laura in Beth’s beloved orange-and-white Cessna 182, with bags of goodies in tow. The Clark family arrived in their caravan—family member after family member piling out carrying what felt like half a harvest table with them—bag after bag of the most delicious food to share.

Out in the hangar, guests got to see our Habitat for Aviation work up close—our worktables, our airplane, and the place where so much learning and belonging takes shape on Sundays.

After doing introductions, we ventured over to the Taylor Aviation Center, which soon was bursting with merriment–laughter, stories, and pilots happily geeking out over recent flying adventures. Jacob and Ian stepped in as grill masters and kept everyone well fed, while friends new and old to break bread and share stores. We were so glad to welcome women from across the state into our Habitat and share a little of what makes this place so special to us.

Nights like this remind us that aviation is not only about airplanes. It is about community, friendship, mentorship, and the joy of being around people who understand why the sky keeps calling. We were honored to host the Vermont Chapter and grateful for such a beautiful evening together.
