Women in Aviation VT Chapter Gathers for a Potluck & Hangar Talk with Habitat for Aviation

Together, we spoke about the persistent gender gaps across aviation, the urgent need for more mechanics and technicians, and the importance of rescripting the narrative around the trades. We shared how our all-women, youth-adult airplane build has become a space for hands-on aircraft construction, multi-generational learning, and real work alongside supportive adults grounded in relationships, relevance, and practice. We also spoke about the importance of early exposure, mentorship, and those “maybe I could be her” moments that can change the course of a young person’s life.

We left Middlebury feeling grateful for the warm welcome, the good food, and the chance to be in conversation with women who care deeply about widening the runway for others. Thank you to the WAI Vermont Chapter for inviting us in. It was a special evening and a good reminder that when women gather in hangars to explore about what is possible, important things happen.
